  • When 10% of pigment is used, it should neither accelerate the initial or final set by more than 1 hr. nor decelerate it by more than 1.5 hr., unlike unpigmented concrete.
  • Pigments decrease concrete strength, but the decrease should not be more than 10% at 28 days. The dosage rate should be adjusted accordingly. Reductions in strength experienced usually result from higher water content for given workability, as pigments are usually approximately 10 times finer than cement.
  • Higher dosage rates affect the water/cement ratio of concrete as well.
